HeartCheck is a screening tool for heart disease that uses advanced CT technology. It is a non-invasive way of obtaining information about the location and extent of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries - the vessels that supply blood to the heart wall. Plaque is a build-up of fat and other substances, including calcium, which in time can narrow the arteries or even close off blood to the heart. This causes angina or a heart attack.

HeartCheck can predict the likelihood of significant naarrowing of the coronary arteries in the next two to five years. Your calcium score may help you and your physician to decide what measures you can take to prevent an acute event.
